No, that would be abusing the referral system. There is no rule against having 2 accounts but the referral system is meant to reward you for introducing new people to the site, referring yourself obviously doesn't fit into that. It is really just a matter of common sense as what is and isn't abuse.

Fortunately, most customers don't look at an isolated figure but take into account the overall package and they see that we are very competitive with the plain low edge sites. Judging by the volume of business we do compared to them our approach is very popular.
You are right that we aren't going looking for small cases of abuse like that. We're far too busy dealing with people with hundreds or thousands of accounts.
