If you are going to mine for the sake of mining, as in you're passionate about the technology that drives it and are willing to deal with the upkeep/noise/electricity rather than hoping it'll get you rich quick, then definitely invest in a good scrypt mining rig. But even if you do, buy like 2 bitcoins while they're low.
