This is why I suggested including in the ban PM one example of the plagiarism offense, which would obviate their need to start threads like this and having members dig up an example for them.

I think the mods/admins giving a reason/example when they send the ban message would be perfect. When they ban a user aren't they looking at an example of the offense? So, if that's the case, why not send it to the user?

But everyone has right of appeal or to see exactly why they were banned.

The majority of appeals only serve to demonstrate the correct action has taken place.

I'm not saying no one has a right to ask for an appeal. I'd just like to see it be done through pm to the admins/staff.

I do have to say EXCELLENT job to all you guys who find these plagiarized posts.

public appeal is there for several reasons .. one of which I have already mentioned but there are several others.
