Most gamblers do understand the risk and the odds after playing. This is for those who are trying to make some quick buck by gambling on dice or slots and other EV- games. For sports. poker and other skill based games its different. There analysis and research also has an effect other than the luck which is universally needed.

You cannot "win" a game unless you withdraw when you are in a profit. The fallacy of many gamblers is that they keep on playing even when they loss, chasing their losses and making more losses. This turns out bad for them and so they "lose". Technically you should be decisive when gambling and manage the bankroll but most gamblers are addicts without brains so no point explaining it to them.
