Hey this is not called cheating by any means, this is called smartness and being observant which many gamblers at times do not possess. I feel you got lucky with this strategy as I had tried to pull this one a while ago, but it went horribly wrong. Also a piece of advice do not visit that place more than once, or avoid it for a while if they feel youre winning a lot they could attack you or worst have you robbed.

Agree to that, this a wise move when dealing with gambling, being very attentive and knowing how to take advantage will help you out to win, congrats OP for being so active though there's no assurance with what you found out but it can help those people who loves this type of gambling they can use this as a basis and try to observe as well before they will make any bets.
