This information abosolutely wrong, i still using mew until now, maybe almost 2 years, i used it. And i think MEW is very pupolar wallet for ethereum which can huse for keep token and so easy to use. But of course if you want more safe, hardware wallet is the solution

A hardware-wallet still requires a user-interface like MEW, MyCrypto, [...] (at least if you're using the Ledger Nano S and you'd like to manage your ERC20-tokens).
