This is a good amount for anyone who has and ideally should be investing in few well known coins and some in the new ICO after understand and knowing it can yield you profitable returns in future. Though if it does not happen your way it can be risky too and you might lose money.

Maybe it's a high risk if you invest in ICO project, because I didn't see any ICO project succeeded in the last few months, so it will be like gambling with a high risk. I think the best proposition is the invest the 1000$ in different coins. In my opinion, I will invest 50% of them in bitcoin and the other 50% in different other altcoin, I will choose carefully because there is a lot of cheap coin have also a good potential to succeed in the future.
