Yes, ETH is the biggest altcoin and it has a lot of support from its large community. But to be sincere, Litecoin (LTC) has really surprised me with how far its gone. I never expected LTC to reach this current position. In 2017 LTC was trending once but didnt get to this position, and seems like it wants to trend again. Thats cool, both of them are doing just fine, but ETH is the king.

Earlier, ETH wasnt the king of altcoins, it just came out of nowhere and has taken the top position and has maintained it since then. Just recently that Ripple was able to climb to the second but later failed leaving ETH the opportunity to get back up to its right position. ETH is indeed the king of altcoins this time around, but lets see if any coin would be able to beat it later.
