I don't think decentralization is to blame here. Greed and a lack of love or consideration of others is the issue.

Regardless of the innovation in technology, there are unloving people who will look to exploit others lack of understanding around it for their own personal benefit.

Well regardless of the system there will always be green and a lack of caring, this is unfortunately a flaw of man. The question I guess we must answer is, do we wise up and be cautious or give us liberties and pay a fee for some middle man to protect the funds, I am pretty sure what everyone here has chosen.
