I'm not so sure. Gox is just operating pretty poorly. It cannot be sustained as it's currently doing.

Gox has been slowly dying since April. And every little thign they have done since then it was just another nail in their coffin.
I'm afraid this was one last stunt they pulled to get some lawyer money.
