First of all, you don't need to worry about asset security. It's strongly suggested to use android version rather than desktop version, since the desktop version update is lagging behind the android verison.
The reason why you cannot see the balance is most likely because you did not sync the data. Please go to "Setting"-Advance-Blocks for synchronization. If the problem occurred again, please try to change the network of your device to LTE/3G/4G or WiFi and repeat the operation.
