Thanks for sharing this, mate. Smart contract blockchains like Ethereum and EOS, shows that it's widely possible to build a decentralized social network for the whole world to enjoy. As for me, I wasn't aware that a decentralized social network like this, existed in the EOS blockchain. But, it's good to know about it, since it proves to be a viable alternative against Steem, Akasha, and other decentralized social networks based on Blockchain tech.

I believe that only those that can prove to be useful for the mainstream world will prevail in the end. As such, this leaves me with Steem, Akasha, and Karma as one of the best decentralized social networks based on Blockchain technology today. There's so much to learn, in this ever-growing world of crypto. Hopefully, new alternatives would emerge over time that will greatly rival the existence of centralized social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

you are talking about the "social media platform" aren't you? in which case Steem is not even a social media platform it is centralized website more like reddit.

you see the token called "steem" may be decentralized and it is obviously based on the blockchain technology, but the "platform" called "steem" (which you are looking for as an alternative to centralized Facebook) is neither decentralized nor uses blockchain technology. it is simply a website like Facebook, Reddit,... where you have to first sign up on and whatever posts you make are stored in their centralized database (note that this database is not blockchain!) and they control your account and what you post so it is not decentralized either.

Well, Steemit claims that only the text-based content is stored on the Steem blockchain. Only the rest (like images and videos) is stored in third-party sites. While I'm not a huge fan of DPoS (because of its semi-centralized structure), it seems to be the best approach for scalability. Decentralized or not, Steem seems to be gaining traction at least in that regard.
