To all those who replied in this thread about electricity. I am planning to make my home to be powered by Solar completely but not because of mining. Since I planned of clean green energy, I also thought of mining with the free energy!.

100% solar? you may be overestimating the capacity of solar and battery storage systems.

run the numbers with (for example) a 6 card miner at say 600 watts 24/7 plus the misc house items that intermediately kick on and off. post them here.

there are some people here really good at solar and giving real life numbers, i will try to point them here if they dont see this thread.

Yup 100% Solar. 1.5KW of solar panels to power the light weight electronics like fan, tv, lights, etc. Not including the AC, Fridge for now. Will be adding more in the future.

Seriously, look at the smaller asics and FPGAs. For a few hundred bucks you'll get something that uses sub-100w and actually makes a profit, whereas your PC and a single card will be using twice that already. A 6 card rig will eat most of that 1.5kw, and earn you peanuts. Basically, as many have said already, GPU mining is pretty much dead unless you have cheap electric and scale up to warehouse size.
this is an interesting article about how the asic mining still profitable at this moment. This is a first quarter report about mining profitability for ASIC

I thought that those GPU miners must read that.
