You were not banned for posting in the thread and you were not banned for testing the site. If what you are saying is true and the website requires that you post in their thread in order to join their site they will be removed. Twisting the reasoning for your ban doesn't make you look any better, but if you are being forced/incentivized to post within their thread then they are breaking the rules.
