I read their article on Medium, and so far it's hard to say whether it's a success story. Leaving a Master's program and a full-time job were serious sacrifices of the founders and I hope they'll be worth it, but IMO it's just too early to tell. From what I read it seems that they want to solve the scalability issue and boost mass adoption by offering a good application of Bitcoin Lightning Network. So that Bitcoin can be sent in a fast and cheap way which paves a way for everyday usage. Since for now, we don't have anything better than the LN for small transactions, I think it's a good approach to try to make use of it. Good luck to the team! I hope they succeed, and paying for groceries with BTC becomes real.

Getting set up with UC Berkeley is a pretty big deal. And yeah I agree, making the sacrifices with the full time job and school is a really cool story, especially if this does take off. They are trying to accomplish something that would be really powerful to the crypto space, and doing so without releasing a token. This is really impressive, even if the project loses speed.
