You probably used a low gas fee. Gas fees are not static. They largely depend on how busy a Blockchain Network is. You should try using the recommended fee or adjust it up a little. I guess you adjusted the current one below the recommended fee hence the slow transaction.

The coolest feature of Ethereum blockchain is the possibility to cancel a transaction that, for some reason, is hanging and has been in the Pending status for a very long time. For example, it can happen due to an indication of a too low gas price or network congestion. However, for most users, there is no need to get their transaction result in a minute or less - for me, it is also OK to wait for a bit longer.
