It is not holding now as Vitalik Buterin and the company are focused on solving the problem of scaling, which should significantly increase the number of processed transactions per second and at the same time make them as cheap as possible. Ethereum 2.0, which will work on sharding and Proof-of-Stake mining will be not launched soon, so it is worth investing in alt and waiting.
