You can't force someone to gamble and play sportsbetting if he don't want to do it anymore. It's not about giving up but he probably made up his mind and started to look for other interesting things that he might do.

Yes, there are sportsbettors that were making a living out of it but many also fail. The information that op has given isn't that it's not accurate at all, he's trying to ask though.
