You cant any longer. Some campaigns made it a habit to ask its participants to wear their animated avatar, and it became pretty annoying, leading to animated avatars not being allowed.

Some older account may still bear their animated avatar though, if they has it prior to the date the change was implemented.

OK, APNGs are now detected. Old ones are grandfathered for now, in part because people have ongoing campaigns, but in the future I might (or might not) go through and remove them.
