If you think you will not regret it and saved a lot of money then there is nothing to prove anymore.

Usage is one of the good things that could happen when you have bitcoin.
You are lucky you made a transaction out of it by that means.
Because some of us just cannot make that kind of transactions. Just holding it until the right time they could use it with merchants.

It is normal that most people would prefer holding their bitcoins rather than using it for payments especially that the price is low right now because nowadays, it is very hard to get bitcoins, it needs a lot of work and effort to get bitcoins and if you will buy it, it will require quite an amount of money for it.
Anyways, I think using them isnt really a bad idea besides bitcoins is suppose to be a digital currency that we can use at our liking.
