It's a combination of both, sometimes organic sometimes artificially driven, there are numerous times and occasions that whales are controlling the market, they are pumping it and there were times that it grows organically because there are new people coming in, so it's up to the community to check what is it.

But I think this time the market is not artificial and by the pump of any whale group. It is increasing along with the situation ahead to the crypto currencies. People are investing in bitcoin because they know that in halving the value will increase. This point is attracting more and more investors to bitcoin investment which also cause the rise in the price of altcoins.
