If this is real story, sorry for your loss but telling people to that decentralization is a scam because of carelessness is BS. Being aware of the risks and being 100% responsible of your funds are part of it so don't blame decentralization. Blame the people who robbed your house and even yourself for keeping only one back up when you could have chosen to have two or more then store it somewhere else.
