On a laptop, you could also undervolt your CPU and GPU so that there's less power draw. A good CPU undervolt generally gives better performance too, due to less thermal throttling. ThrottleStop is a good tool for CPU undervolting and MSI Afterburner is good for GPU undervolting.

Even on a desktop, I'm personally folding with a 1080Ti set at 70% power target for better thermals and efficiency at a small performance loss.

Hmmmm, I'm folding on a laptop (msi, so kinda gaming), and having it at Full, both CPU and GPU temps are not surpasing 60ºC. When not using, they're normally between 30/40º and while gaming it may go up to 70/90. Haven't tried undervolting or overclocking, but since everything is working fine (around 450k reward points), temps are OK, and landlady said I don't have to pay rent and utilities this month, running the program 24/7 is something doable
