Exactly this! I played online games on a laptop for a long time and it was miserable. I would always prefer a desktop now since most laptops just don't have the required hardware. I love to work on my laptop since I can take it with me everywhere I go, but for playing computer games a desktop is the far better alternative. Don't waste your money buying a gaming laptop, it's just not worth it!
