"crypto" currencies are any currency that is based on cryptography. it can be centralized or decentralized. the main defining factor is the cryptography not the open/closed or de/centralized state of it.
example: both bitcoin and petro are cryptocurrencies but bitcoin is open source and decentralized while petro is government made, closed source and centralized.

all cryptocurrencies are digital currencies too.
