But more importantly, is there a way to set a price source? There are only 4 sources seen here and no Coinbase as described by Findingnemo 
Take a look at my electrum fiat source page, there are lot of options available for me including localbitcoins and coinbase.
I guess you are using an older version of the electrum?!
