The world has become much smaller, with the invention of the internet and due to low cost air travel. It is not possible to impose these stupid bans in a particular territory. Because the gamblers may simply travel to some jurisdiction where gambling is legal (Macau, Las Vegas.etc), or they may simply do their gambling using one of the online casinos. In the end the government will lose tax revenues.
This is exactly the point, the government will not achieve anything banning all these things when the world gets smaller with the advent of technology.
Take a look at Macau and it is under the Chinese government, they restrict the entire country but they have a place where anything goes including gambling and it can be said about Dubai and other similar places. I am not sure about Dubai having a gambling paradise but you get anything in Dubai from what i heard.
Well. You have a point there. Gambling is banned in China, but it is allowed in Macau. So the Chinese gamblers travel to Macau and gamble there. This prevents valuable tax revenue from getting lost to other countries. On top of that, additional jobs will be created. But doing something like this is impossible in India. Here there is so much bad blood between the political parties and the opposition will burn down half the country, if any such measure is proposed.
