Last time they started getting inside the house, but luckily they haven't reached that stage yet. I've tried those store bought ant poison pellets, and it seemed to have no impact. So half the area is clear of ants (for now) but there is another stream of ants like a metre away that was unaffected.

There are a lot of products in markets that can help you with that.
Some brands that produce sprays for ants are Raid, Baygon. You will see results from the first minute you apply that to the ants and the area that they are passing by.

I have a cheap solution to this issue, just use petrol in the place of other chemicals and the ants will never come into that place again but remember you should take proper security measures to you before spraying the petrol it can cause respiratory issues if you mishandle it.
