I am actually doing both strategies. For projects that have long term potential, I hold my coins and hope that its price will pump later on. For a project that is hyping, I normally short my asset and seek better timing to buy and sell the coin. I think being flexible with your portfolio is a good thing.

You should be careful if you follow the hype because you can get the wrong coin, and you can get in the trap for the high price. My suggestion is you need to be selective and don't follow the hype, try to choose the coin which really has the potential to increase in the short, medium, and long term, so that can reduce the risk. For a long-term investment, I think it is enough if you have bitcoin as the main coin because it will increase in the future.
