If that's the case, the next logical place to store it would be in the system RAM, upgrading that is super easy and it would be the next fastest access place..

This could be a big big deal..

a lot of tweaks and optimizations already happened, so it will not be a simple comparison between on system ram or ssd, besides 280x' can't do ETH anymore so comparing will be a bit vague.

even upgrading from a core2duo s775 processor to a s775 core2quad processor has improved my ETH hash back then lol, anyway miner devs are the one who can answer this inquiry.
