Gas problems are imminent because ethereum network are congested that's everyone are hoping for the version 2 of ethereum will get rid of these problems once in for all. Users wanted to have faster transactions will surely gamble high gas fees just to make transactions successful. I have high hopes that these problems will be gone soon enough, just trust the process.

The only thing why ETH keep alive was many project are still using there blockchain like DeFi and ICO that still don't have there mainnet. Just like Bitcoin, ETH is just benefiting for being the first mover that's why people are still using it for sending money even though the fee was very high. I doubt that they can still continue if there v2.0 will gonna fail.
