you dont need ath to feel the benefit of a crypto your using because benefit can also be felt not only in terms of profit but it can also be in terms of usefulness .

same as being interested , for others to be interested they dont also need to wait for the ath of eth or to any coin but existing feature of a coin is enough to attract someone
