What I can call an alt season is alt/btc pairs shooting up. The ultimate goal in trading alts is to accumulate and increase bitcoin portfolio. But I guess this depends on what you've used on buying that alt, if you use stablecoins like usdt then your profit should be usdt too. Same with btc, if you buy an alt worth 0.05btc, it should return greater amount of bitcoin not the equivalent fiat value when you bought it.

You are right. Altcoins are increasing so much in USDT pairs as bitcoin increases in USDT that lifts the price of altcoins in USDT when their price in BTC are almost unchanged.

Fortunately, altcoin season will come and when it comes, altcoins will rise in two pairs. In that season, altcoin performance will bigger than bitcoin. Bitcoin increases in USDT but altcoins increase in 2 pairs. Double increases and bigger profits. It is a period of the market that I will hold my altcoins very tight.
