If we can do that, we will not get depression, even if we have a hard day. But we know that our emotion is up and down, and it needs a big effort to maintain the emotion, so we can still avoid depression. I am also against using meds to address depression. At some points in my life, I also experienced being depressed. But what saved me from this situation was to think the reasons why you need to stay alive, is it because of your parents, your kids ( which is actually the best motivating factor)? You need to look for something that will give reason for you to stay afloat in this cruel world. Also, if you are undergoing this lowest point of your life, better detach yourself from all forms of social media. You don't need to read from somebody about their vacation or parties. It will add more depression on you because you will tend to compare your life with others. This is what I learned actually, you need to be selfish and not bother the social media. Even if it means detaching yourself from your friends or family for quite a while. You need your alone time to figure out things for yourself.
