There were actually lots of coins that attempted to kill Ethereum but none of them became victorious. There will surely be more altcoins that would attempt to beat Butcoin and Ethereum but I don't think they would succeed easily.

It is very difficult for DOT to replace ETH, it is like saying that a cryptocurrency is going to be better than Bitcoin, although ETH is much higher in history than DOT, I understand that for now DOT is going through a not very comfortable moment, at the Watching some news, I came across this analysis:

This gives me to understand that it is a nascent project, it is still difficult to determine what could happen, it is difficult to do a fundamental analysis, I think that it does not yet have the characteristics to compare it with ETH, much less kill ETH.
