Now Devdutt Padikkal is someone who in my eyes represent the future for India. Unfortunately the selectors have ignored him for quite a long time. Almost all the other youngsters have got a chance to represent India, but Devdutt is still waiting for his chance. Perhaps he doesn't have powerful backers in national team unlike the case with some of the other younger players.
Devdutt Padikkal is still a young player. It is better not to give him a chance in the national team now. He is talented enough. He needs to be more prepared to serve the Indian cricket team for a long time. If given a chance in the national team without being properly prepared, this talent is likely to be lost soon. We saw a lot of cricketers, after great performances in the IPL, they were given a chance in the national team. But they were not able to play well in the national team.
LOL.. then why this rule is not applicable to players such as Shaw and Gill? Devdutt is performing really well in the domestic cricket for quite sometime now. He deserves a slot in the national team. On the other hand, Shaw and Gill have wasted whatever opportunity given to them. Another player who deserve a chance right now is Ishan Kishan. He was given just one or two chances and then he was dropped. The selection policy for the national team needs to be consistent.
