Won't happen. Solar energy is far too inefficient and expensive as compared to other sources of energy, in addition to its intermittent availability. It is impossible for a large farm to be powered by solar panels and achieve any profitability.

Probably. He wants the general public to think that he is in fact promoting both the sustainability of man kind as well as space exploration. You'd get far more bad publicity by doing something like this, and any publicity is really never always good publicity. Despite what people think, all of his actions so far were purely business decisions.
