I agreed with you here bitcoin may not last forever going by the growing trend in sophistication and improvement on technology I read articles on quantum computer [url = https://www2.deloitte.com/nl/nl/pages/innovatie/artikelen/quantum-computers-and-the-bitcoin-blockchain.html] link [/url] posing a serious threat on blockchain technology probably disrupting encryption of the system implication of that will result to seeking another or better secure alternative to bitcoin, thus lasting forever is not guaranteed only if there will be an improved post quantum encryption although presently there isn't any breakthrough to that effect yet however a lots of innovations on quantum computers is on going that will pose a danger to wallets.
