Op had chosen to start a small amount, but I don't think buying several types of coins will be profitable in a fast ways. It needs the be funded with huge amount but for a newbie starter $1k for him was just enough to accommodate as good entry point. As a suggestion focusing with btc is an assurance for us to gain an exact amount before thinking for another coins. Using your passive income will also be a good for diversion on altcoins that has good potential in order to expand you holdings capabilities.
