I think money and wealth is just a way to support you to reach the goal and dream of your life.
Some people like to hold power and some people like to travel to as many places as they can in their life, and they need money to do that.
If they can do that without money, then I don't think they will be much interested in accumulating wealth.
No matter how much wealth you accumulated, you can't bring them into your grave anyways.

I think the argument of the OP is that people spend so much time thinking about money and doing everything to get it that it has become their actual religion even if they do not think about this way, and while I think he has a point because I have known a few people that were completely obsessed about money to the point that they did not thought about anything else, at the same time I think he is exaggerating as many people have no other option but to think about money that much because it is that hard to earn a living right now.
