You can't beat them. The fee to send the tokens is much higher than the fee to send out ETH, so the scammer will always be able to set a higher fee on the transaction that steals your ETH. Technically you might be able to override that transaction but that just means that you get less ETH back than you sent to the address and the scammer suffers only a mild annoyance.

The ETH that you would send to the address to fund the token transfer (e.g. $20 worth of ETH) will be stolen by the scammer (minus e.g. a $2 ETH TX fee). The scammer pockets the $15 because as I mentioned above "pure" ETH TX fees are much lower than token TX fees.
