To develop a reputation within your first dozen posts, you need to post specifically in Meta and Reputation, preferably calling out established members of the forum on their perceived misdeeds. Then people will remember you, at least for a while, and voila, reputation achieved.

Or you know, contribute something useful and original to the community with persistence and you will rank up like everybody else.

You forgot to mention the Collectibles board, where buying a round piece of metal adds greatly to your reputation. Even better if you use certain users as escrow, you'll get double the feedback for just for one deal! Then sell it again, and score even more positive feedback.
