No question that the gaming industry will follow this route. Crypto is the best thing around and every industry wants its share from it and earning while playing a game that you would ordinarily be playing for free. I guess this is a good idea and I noticed some games are in this direction now.

By saying "no question", do you mean gaming companies will follow the same? I don't see it that way honestly. Most gaming companies might not follow what Ubisoft does but rather they might just accept crypto payments on their game. Applying crypto directly to the game is innovative but not a game changer as there are now lots of blockchain games that dominate the world of crypto games.

If ever they will follow, I will support them but don't expect they will.

Applying payments for in-game items always plays as a negative factors for players. A lot of players are usually against it, because it was proved many times, that "rich" players spoil game balance and a game itself. Such in-game purchases usually turn game into "press X to win".

If companies add crypto, or most probably just NFT, I hope that they will only change a visual part of game (skins and etc) and not interfere game balance.
