Most of the time, it's enough to crush a service's reputation if provided with strong evidence.

Yes, it's better to die for something than to live for nothing; at the very least, he tried to retrieve it; password recovery services have a 50/50 chance of working, and everyone would want to go to such lengths to recover such a valuable wallet.
