I am totally failed to understand what do you mean by intrinsic value and how can you say k we don't give zakat on crypto or give zakat based on original investment? Same goes for dollar. Agar dollar app kay pass Rs 100 ka hay tu u will not calculate Rs 100 in 2022. You will calculate it as Rs180
App nay gold 20 years phelay buy kia hay tu app 20 year old wali price ni lein gay bilkay current price lein gay.
App nay agar plot / house selling kay liey is hay tu purchase price ni lein gay, current price calculate kr k zakat dein gay.
Similiary agar app nay bitcoins 20,000$ kay buy kiey hein 2017 mein tu 2022 mein jo rate hay 40,000$ kay hisab c calculate hoga.
Mutlab kay agar app 1st ramazan ko calculate kertay hein tu 1st ramadan ko bitcoin, crypto, dollar, plot, gold aur silver ki jo bhi value hogi, aus kay mutabiq zakat bunay gii.
Well i didn't say you don't have to give zakat on crypto. I said
how you will calculate zakat on this? For example we pay Zakat on agricultural goods, precious metals, minerals, and livestock at a rate varying between her aik pe kitni zakat hia alag se clearly defined hia Islam main and it is depending on the type of goods. How will you decide for bitcoin? That's what intrinsic value means. I hope you got the point.
You must have heard 1btc=1btc calculating bitcoin in $ is illogical from crypto point of view also.
That's also the main reason you will not find any fatwa from a known scholar regarding bitcoin.
Yes we can simplify and calculate based on Gold if you have btc equal to 85gram of gold equal to dollars or will be deducted the fees since we don't have it in $ and again we will pay zakat in our local currency. Right..
I mean I don't want to argue but again this is between you and Allah and you can decide what you feel best.
There is a difference of opinion here but I think Gold chayee use mein ho ya na hho, aus p zakat deni perthi hay, bilkay dena chayee.
“A woman came to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) accompanied by her daughter, who wore two heavy gold bangles. He said to her, “Do you pay Zakah on them?” She said, ‘No.’ He then said, “Are you pleased that Allah may put two bangles of fire on your wrist on the Day of Judgment?” She then threw them away. (An-Nasa’i)
Yes there's difference of opinion, "The Hanafis are of the view that it is obligatory to pay zakaah on it, but the majority of Maalikis, Shaafa’is and Hanbalis are of the view that it is not obligatory to pay zakaah on it." Since in Pakistan mostly we are hanfi that what we follow. But in Arab world including Saudi Arabia and many Africans countries it's not obligatory to give zakat on the jewelry woman using for herself.
[quote authoer=https://islamqa.info/en/answers/19901/zakaah-on-gold-that-is-intended-for-use]
Some scholars said that there was no zakaah to be paid on it, because by using it in a permissible manner, it becomes like clothing and other items, and is not like a product that has a commercial value. They responded to the general meaning of the aayah [al-Tawbah 9:34] by pointing out that the
practice of the Sahaabah excluded gold that was used for adornment. It was reported with a
saheeh isnaad that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) used to look after her brother’s orphaned daughters in her apartment.
They had gold jewellery but she did not pay zakaah on it. Al-Daaraqutni narrated with his isnaad from Asmaa’ bint Abi Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with her) that she used to adorn her daughters with gold jewellery, and she did not pay zakaah on it, (although its value was) nearly fifty thousand. (Sunan al-Daaraqutni, 2/109)

Now if we are following Hanifs we will zakat but like you said difference of opinion is there among the scholars and Allah knows the best.
