we have to see that people who work in a financial department must be people of good character and cannot be people who have problems with gambling addictions, let's imagine that a company has 1000 employees, the company owner puts a guy addicted to gambling in the position of financial director, the guy is responsible for paying salaries, buying things for the company, making payments for goods and services to the company, paying all other company bills, how long will this guy addicted to gambling be able to resist seeing company money and not stealing to support gambling addiction? it will be inevitable that he will steal and leave 1000 employees without wages and can lead the entire company to bankruptcy, a person addicted to gambling needs to be hospitalized and undergoing treatment cannot be working in some sector that deal with money
This just crossed my mind and there's a possibility that this scenario exists in real life
Do You Think It's A Cause Of Concern For Your Employer if he finds out that you are a compulsive gambler and you are working in a department that deals with money, do you think it's right that he transfer you to another department that has nothing to do with money?
Absolutely. I'm surprised that only 54.5% of the voters think it is. C'mon, guys, would you trust your money to a compulsive gambler? I mean, not only there's a high probability of losing money, but you are likely to make the things worse for that person suffering from gambling addiction. Don't make an alcoholic to work at a booze store. That's a bad idea.
Most people would vote Yes because they were worried that the company's money would be used by compulsive gamblers and I would also vote Yes, and I would move it to the part that has nothing to do with money.
or maybe to a more focused or serious part of work and also think a lot about work, and aim to divert him from gambling because it is very dangerous for him and there is a possibility that the salary from work is used for gambling, and it is better to move him who is more suitable and can help him recover from addicted.
I would remove the guy from the company, and I would give him time for him to be hospitalized and undergo treatment and I would only readmit him to the company only when the doctor showed evidence that he is recovered and of course the company would pay for all his treatment and he would receive 100% of salary while hospitalized undergoing treatment
No doubt, once a gambler become desperate he can do things that un-imaginable, especially if there's already addiction, you can say whatever you want and you can defend yourself trying to prove that you are a responsible gambler, but for how long?
The chance is there that you'll be using the company's resources to support your gambling.
It's best for your boss to transfer you away from the incoming lust that might lead you to do things that you shouldn't do.
This is thinking that the company owner is dumb though. I mean, instances of people stealing from the company funds only happen when the said person has connections enough to bypass all the checks that happen (and I do hope there are checks, since if there weren't then there's definitely something wrong with the company itself) OR he's good enough in the programming techy stuff to cover his tracks (if that's even possible, not really sure). And I honestly think that people with that level of addiction even has work in the first place anyway.
the problem is that the addict will not steal in parts, he will steal a lot of money at once to gamble in the hope that he will win a lot and then he will replace the money before everyone finds out he stole it... of course he will lose it all money and company people will only find out too late
