I would remove the guy from the company, and I would give him time for him to be hospitalized and undergo treatment and I would only readmit him to the company only when the doctor showed evidence that he is recovered and of course the company would pay for all his treatment and he would receive 100% of salary while hospitalized undergoing treatment

You would be a very generous employer Smiley , and, seriously, I think that's how all employers should treat their workers. But it is hardly the case in many companies, so gamblers should not expect such an attitude. Rather, they should control their gambling habits to stay as far as possible from even potentially ending up in such a disaster.
Hell yeah. It's so good that you will still be paid even if you are just relaxing at the rehab (not hospital) because the guy only has a mental problem (addiction) and he is not physically injured. If there is a struggle, that would only be the part where you will take your medicine as they may taste bad and the pain in the injection if it's needed.

If only all employers are like this but sadly no as most of them only care for their company and how can they make more money. For them it will be a waste of their income if they will honor the pay for the rehabilitation and if they will continue giving the salary of the employee is currently away.
