That is indeed a good signing by Erik ten Hag considering the age of Tyrell Malacia who is just 22 who was in a verge of signing for Lyon and agreeing a term fortunately Man Utd turned up with a better offer, I forsee a new player in mould of Patrick Evra who was agile, pacy with a high work rate, he brilliantly played for Feyenord and the Dutch national team last season, he might not necessary start competing with Luke Shaw, however after adapting very well and integrated in the squad I have no doubt he will definitely be Man Utd future left back.

A negative habit that is often done by left or right backs is forgetting to defend when they are busy attacking so it is difficult to help the defense in blocking counter attacks from the opponent.
In the Ferguson era, Patrice Evra and Gary Neville were defenders who were able to do both defensive and attacking work at the same time which made the Manchester United defense difficult to penetrate by opponents occupied by Rio Ferdinand and Vidic.
