I think you better have some bitcoin in your portfolio, I agree with you that altcoins are more profitable than bitcoin but the higher the return, the higher the risk so you should not invest all your money in altcoins.

Since OP already talks about BTC and ETH. Now ETH has the upcoming ETH PoS which shows a strong recovery bound compared to BTC and alts. I say he should get more ETH than BTC and shouldn't waste his money on the risky alts. ETH is good for both the long-term and the short-term as I see right now.
