Virat Kohli must feel like he is downgrading himself if he plays for domestic seasons right now. I think the main reason why he is not willing to do that is because of his ego. He has not performed well for a long time and we know even before his marriage they had a lot of drama simmering on between themselves. And that has also had some impact on his professional career but obviously, that was not worth much notice. But right now Virat Kohli seems to be so busy with his personal life that he doesn't seem to be giving enough time to his professional career. And this is the result of that.
If he is that busy with his personal life, then he should take some time off and stay with his family, right? If he thinks that playing domestic cricket will result in a downgrade, then I can't help. Legendary players such as Sachin Tendulkar and Steve Smith have played domestic cricket frequently despite their national commitments. Anyway, no one will force Virat to play domestic matches. If he don't want to play, then he don't need to. The decision by BCCI to allow family members to travel with the national team squad for overseas tours need to be revised. I guess that is causing a lot of issues and resulting in lack of focus.
@Sithara007 I’m waiting to see will Rohit and Dravid take the bold call of dropping Kohli, because if he’s choosing to avoid domestic cricket to get better then he should definitely be dropped. Furthermore dropping him temporarily could be the key to make him remind why he needs to perform, and maybe then he’ll start performing again but if he yet fails then the selectors will have to consider about permanently dropping him.
